Electrical 100 (Rookie)

Prereqs: None

Duration: ~3–4 weeks (early build season)

Required Reading

  1. Electrical Standards — Baseline wiring practices and safety
  2. Module 1: Standards & Layout — Control system overview
  3. Module 2: Wiring Fundamentals — Crimping, labeling, routing

Tasks

  • Build a test board: PDH/PDP, radio, one motor controller, one sensor.
  • Perform tug tests and power-on check.

Sign-off

  • Mentor verifies terminations, labeling, and passes power-on.

Best practices

  • Pull-test every crimp; insulate exposed conductors.
  • Label polarity/CAN IDs; keep wiring tidy on the test board.

Common mistakes

  • Mismatched gauge/connector; loose crimps; uninsulated lugs.

Checklist

  • Test board wired and labeled
  • Pull-tests done; power-on passed

Evidence to attach

  • Photos of test board wiring/labels
  • Pull-test/power-on notes
