Team Handbook

Core policies for a universal FRC/robotics team. Keep current and acknowledged yearly.

Code of conduct

  • Respectful, inclusive, professional behavior at all times (online and in-person).
  • Zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination.
  • Safety overrides schedule; anyone may stop work for safety concerns.

Lab/shop rules

  • Follow Safety & Rules; wear required PPE; no food/drink near electronics/machinery.
  • Only use tools you are trained and authorized to use.
  • Keep exits/aisles clear; clean as you go; secure chemicals/tools when unsupervised.

Attendance and travel eligibility

  • Meet participation requirements (meetings, build sessions, trainings).
  • Travel requires meeting academic/eligibility criteria; forms and permissions on file.
  • Absences communicated early to leads/mentors.

Communication norms

  • Use official channels for team business; respond within agreed windows.
  • Document decisions in the hub; avoid “DM-only” decisions for critical topics.
  • Meeting etiquette: be on time, prepared, and respectful.

Reporting and escalation

  • Safety or conduct issues: escalate to mentors/lead coach immediately.
  • Technical blockers: escalate to subteam leads; document in logs.
  • Anonymous reporting option if available; no retaliation for good-faith reports.
  • For incidents, follow the Incident Playbook (contacts, reporting, root cause, actions).

Acknowledgment

  • All members sign yearly to confirm understanding and agreement.
